If you don’t love chicken, then I don’t know what you love. Chicken is highly nutritious, delicious and is loved world over across all age groups. When I wanted to introduce proteins to my baby, I was a bit skeptical on allergies and indigestion. For that reason, she became a vegetarian for a full month of weaning. The second month I felt that I was not doing justice to her especially because her parents are more less carnivores.. I love meat.. I was worried by in degistion if animal protein especially meat was consumed. Then I thought about the chicken. Being white meat, chicken is easy to digest. The challenge was how to serve it. I had to experiment on a few recipes to see if this princess would have be impressed.  I was lucky to get three awesome chicken recipes that she enjoyed. I hope you will try and see your baby’s reaction.

Before heading to the recipe, I love to give nutritional value of food is serve. Chicken is rich in protein, minerals and vitamins. 100g of chicken has 65g moisture, 18 g protein, 4 g saturated fat, 75 mg of cholesterol, 11 mg calcium, 0.9 g iron, 20mg magnesium, 147 mg phosphorous, 189 mg potassium, 70 mg sodium, 1.3 zinc. In terms of vitamin, chicken contains Vitamin C, Vitamin B12, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin K, Vitamin E, Thiamin and Folate. You can imagine the goodness that the chicken will bring into your baby’s body.

Let’s get down to the recipes!

CHICKEN VEGEE PUREE

Ingredients

100g chicken breast

I carrot

4 leaves spinach

1 small onion

Method

Peel the carrot and slice into large pieces. Put water in sauce pan. Add chicken and carrot and bring to boil for 10 minutes. Save the juice for late use. Dice onion into small pieces, place into a sauce pan. Add a little cooking oil and fry until golden brown. Add whole spinach and stir. Cook for two minutes. Add chicken and carrot and stir. Let it cook for three minutes. Put the food in blender and blend. Use the saved juice to give the consistency that you need. Serve the delicacy to your munch.

CHICKEN RICE APPLE PUREE

If you think were done with fruity weaning recipes, then you were wrong. I have come to love apple more so because it is not one of the fruits I thought I could serve my baby until all the teeth were fully grown. You will love this recipe.

Ingredient

Half a cup of rice

I carrot,

I apple

100g chicken breast

Method

Bring to boil chicken and peeled carrot for 1o minutes. Add peeled and diced apple and let it boil for 5 more minutes.( If you have a steamer, just wrap all the three ingredient with an aluminum foil and steam for 25 minutes. Steaming is even better than boiling since all the nutrients are retained. ) Retain the juice for later use when blending.  Boil rice in a separate sauce pan. When cooked, blend all the Ingredients together. Serve. You can replace the rice with sweet potatoes or green bananas.
